There are more than eight million lawful permanent residents in the US who are qualified to become US citizens. Our goal is to help lawful permanent residents in our community reach this goal by removing barriers to completing the citizenship process. Our focus is on providing information about citizenship requirements, advising on issues which are barriers to citizenship and providing services that assist lawful permanent residents with achieving citizenship, including classroom preparation and application assistance.
As a part of our Immigration programs, we offer free legal assistance. We are a U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Legal Access Programs recognized organization. Through our accredited representatives, we provide qualified assistance with non-court matters associated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations regarding immigration issues. For those matters for which we are not qualified to assist, we refer those in need of services to qualified licensed attorneys.
Once a lawful permanent resident becomes a U.S. citizen, we help them integrate into the country by empowering them to vote and be active participants in their community. We provide the immigrant community with information about recent immigration issues. We work to inform new citizens of their rights and also provide presentations about TPS and DACA. We also work with sister organizations to connect immigrants with resources regarding issues we are not able to address.
We believe that education is the best way to enable people’s advancement. We deliver programs to help families of youth at the secondary education level to ensure successful education by addressing common issues.
